Funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts it was created in 1999 to strengthen and enrich U.S. political journalism by providing information about political activity in the 50 state capitols. In an era of declining news media presence in statehouses, Stateline.org helps fill the coverage gap. Stateline.org compiles a news report each weekday linking to the day’s top news in the 50 state capitols, along with news stories and analysis by its staff of Washington-based reporters. It has twice been honored with National Press Club journalism awards. David Broder, the Washington Post’s distinguished political columnist, has described it as “my favorite Web site.”

Our site is being maintained as a resource for observers of the Pennsylvania political scene. We are also using this website as a means to inject our views into the political arena. We readily admit that some of us here at PoliticsPA are not completely unbiased. We have favorites just like you, and there are some Pennsylvania pols who we are not enamored with. You will probably be able to figure that out on your own.
